Benefits Advice

Disability-related benefits advice and form filling service for adults and children

We deliver specialist benefits advice and guidance to support people of working age to claim disability related benefits, where entitled, to maximise their income where possible.

DIAL can advise on the following disability-related benefits:

  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA) (for children)
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Employment and Support Allowance
  • Universal Credit

We can support people to appeal benefit decisions where there has been oversight or there is new information that changes their entitlement. In some circumstances we may be able to assist people through the appeal process and represent their case at tribunal where appropriate.

DIAL can support claimants to submit supporting information for disability related benefit applications. This may include help to provide medical information to relevant DWP offices.

Case study

A young mother, with a seven-month baby diagnosed with cerebral palsy, was in financial difficulties and struggling to understand her child’s disability. Citizen’s Advice had already put in place a debt management plan, so DIAL assisted her to access disability and family support benefits totalling £35,000 over three years. DIAL referred her to other charities that helped secure additional grants for hospital fares, household items and a sensory pack. Her financial position has improved and we will continue to offer advice and support for nursery care, special needs assessments and other disability matters.
